The Inside Story

There is an old saying, "Do not judge a book by its cover." There is no telling what treasures may lay inside. The same can be said of Drum Pumps. It is what you do not see that makes the difference. From the outside, most drum pumps look very similar.

There are some distinctive differences, but to most people they all look very much the same. The difference that can really make an impact on the performance and life of your pump are often the ones you cannot see. That is what the "INSIDE STORY" IS ALL ABOUT…

A. Recessing the coupling in the top of the pump helps keep it out of harms way when the pump and motor separated.

B. The removable inner tube assembly gives quick and easy access to the inner workings of the pump.

C. There are two heavy duty sealed ball bearings supporting the impeller shaft.

D. A steel spacer between the bearings helps dissipate heat. E. Hose connections are available in ¾", 1" and 1¼" sizes.

F. Two heavy-duty Viton radial shaft seals provide protection for the bearings.

G. The steel bearing and seal cup is molded into the inner pump tube assembly.

H. Pump tubes are available in polypropylene, PVDF, 316 stainless steel, Hastelloy C and aluminum.

I. The spiral bearing is designated to allow product to drain out of the tube and eliminate shaft wear.

J. Impeller shafts are made from Hastelloy C. a material chosen for its high strength and chemical resistance. Identical threads on either end of the drive shaft allow it to be inverted for longer life.

K. The lower bearing housing with its carbon insert and drain vent is replaceable. A Teflon bearing insert is also available for ultra pure applications.

L. A choice of high lift or high volume impeller of heavy duty Tefzel is available to suit particular applications.

M. The foot piece, which takes the most abuse of all the parts of the pump, and is independently replaceable.
