Monoflo Twin Shaft Grinders

The Muncher Family is a range of twin shaft, slow speed, high torque grinders that macerate solids within a flow. Each shaft is fitted with a series of interleaving cutters and spacers to give real 'positive displacement' solids grinding. Once solids became trapped in the slowly revolving cutter stacks, the differential speed of the cutter stacks pull apart fibrous material, crop and shear plastic into small pieces and crush friable or brittle material.

The Muncher has been successfully installed for over 40 years into the following applications:

• Protection of pumps prone to blockage
• High volume, fine grinding of sewage and sludge 
• Efficient disintegration of extracted screenings, prior to treatment 
• Bulk reduction, material reclamation and profit from waste
• Effective packaged pumping system, when combined with a Monoflo progressing cavity pump

TR Muncher Features:

• Cantilever Design - Completely eliminates the need for lower seals and bearings!
• Larger Cutters - Cutters are larger in diameter than comparable models (Ex: 6" vs. 4¾")
• Pull Out Drive Assembly - The entire drive, gearbox and shaft assembly can easily be removed from the main casing without the requirement to dismantle the machine or remove the unit from the pipe work.
• Tilted Cutter Stacks - Set at an angle to the incoming flow, the tilted cutter design is more effective in capturing irregular shaped objects than that of a conventional machine.  Additionally, if a rejection cycle is necessary the object can drop into the integral trash trap located safely below the cutter assembly.
• Trash Trap with Clean-Out Ports - Any rejected solids remain contained beneath the operating mechanism.  Large access ports permit periodic solids removal, cleaning and flushing of the unit.  Optional user installed automatic water flushing may be applied on sites where grit & solids are known to be a factor.
• Flange-To-Flange Interchangeability - Unites are designed with critical dimensions (flange & mounting) identical to those of existing machines, thus allowing for relatively simple retrofit.
