Enclosed NEMA4/4X Across-The-Line Starters
Direct-on-line
(DOL) starters, also know as across-the-line (ATL) starters, are
the easiest, least expensive, and most common means of starting
and protecting an electric motor. A simple configuration
consisting of a mechanical contactor and an adjustable thermal
overload relay, DOL starters are the best solution when soft
starting is not required. DOL starts are characterized by
high motor starting torque and an instantaneous current draw of
600% to 800% of the motor's full load current. The rate of
acceleration depends upon the applied voltage, motor design, and
load type.
